Mackstreet-Boys-will-Perform-at-NHL-All-Star-Game

Gabe Landeskog was fan voted into the NHL All Star Game, thus sending our entire top line to the NHL All Star Game. (MacKinnon and Rantanen were already selected)

This random question on reddit sparked my interest:

When was the last time an All-Star game featured an entire line?

The only statistics I could find about All Star Games were sparse and not well organized. Reached out to Mark Rycroft on twitter who referred my question to Lee Blair, who came up with a Senators line in 2008. Of course I was curious if the Senators line of Alfredsson, Heatley, Spezza line had a catchy name and they did – the CASH Line

Heatley, together with Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza, formed one of the NHL’s top offensive lines, dubbed the “CASH line” by fans in a contest held by the Ottawa Citizen. The name is made from the initials of Captain Alfredsson, Spezza, and Heatley.

Then I looked for that line’s performance in the All Star Game, and it turns out that Heatley did not attend due to injury. Luckily, they cited the last previous time an entire line was named to the ASG and it reaches back to 1981.

The top line of the Ottawa Senators (Alfredsson, Heatley, Spezza) was the first forward line to be named in their entirety to the All-Star Game since 1981, when the Los Angeles Kings had their top line named. Dany Heatley was voted to the East all-star team, but was unable to play due to injury.

The 1981 Kings line was known as the Triple Crown Line – Charlie Simmer, Marcel Dionne and Dave Taylor

My favorite name for the Landeskog MacKinnon Rantenen line is MackRanteSkog, however Gabe liked Mackstreet Boys – Aye, Aye, Captain!
